Abstract

In single photoreceptors of Limulus the latency to the first electrical response after the onset of a light stimulus is a random variable. A simple formula for the probability density function of this random variable, which includes the spontaneous activity, is proposed. For low-energy stimuli, the agreement with experiment is fairly good.
