Abstract

Formulas are derived which permit the transfer of an object into any desired position behind a pair of plane mirrors. One mirror pair always suffices theoretically to solve this problem. The usefulness of the method is demonstrated with the help of the design of a highly efficient illumination system for a projector for opaque microrecords. It is then pointed out how to proceed if the first solution is not feasible.
