Abstract

Bound-free hydrogenic matrix elements and gaunt factors have been computed for initial principal quantum numbers ni = 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and for final principal quantum number nf → ∞. The calculation is performed by an asymptotic expansion of the hypergeometric function in the Coulomb matrix element formula in which the first-order terms are confluent hypergeometric functions.
