Abstract

A spectrographic method is described for the determination of beryllium oxide in beryl ore in the range of 6-12%. The sample is mixed with iron oxide, lithium carbonate and graphite, briquetted, and excited in the A.C. spark. The amount of beryllium is determined by comparing the density of Be 3321.343 to Fe 3021.073. In addition, the method of Cholak and Hubbard for the determination of beryllium has been extended to a wide variety of industrial solutions and its sensitivity increased quantitatively to 0.00025 micrograms of Be per milliliter of solution.
