Influence of oxy-, deoxy- and met-hemoglobin absorption in interstitial photodynamic therapy

Abstract

During illumination in interstitial photodynamic therapy, transmitted treatment light monitoring showed a reduction in intensity. It can be shown experimentally that light-induced hemoglobin de-oxygenation and methemoglobin formation leads to an increase in light absorption.
