Highly sensitive lab-on-a-chip biosensor utilizing phase-modulated Mach-Zehnder interferometer

Abstract

We report an integrated Mach-Zehnder interferometer biosensor utilizing subwavelength gratings in the sensing arm to enhance analyte-light interaction, and phase modulation to reduce ambiguity. This leads to 2-fold increase in sensitivity.
