Abstract
The electronic transition IF B3Π(0+) → IF X1Σ+ is accompanied by a radiative emission in the visible range near 625 nm. The possibility of using this transition in a chemical laser through direct production of the B state is estimated. A population inversion between IFB3Π(0+), v′ = 0, and IFX1Σ+, v′′ = 5, can be achieved by mixing I(2P3/2) plus F(2P3/2) with O2(1Δ). A. direct production of well-mixed iodine plus fluorine atoms is obtained in a combustion followed by a frozen expansion. Typical production reactions from CF3I, H2, and NF3.
