Abstract

The nonlinear optical properties of a series of metal colloids have been studied by using degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM), In addition to colloidal suspensions of silver, platinum, and gold, composites of gold-coated silver, platinum, and aluminum oxide particles were prepared, along with platinum-coated cadmium sulfide particles. The size of the particles was determined by a transmission electron microscope (TEM).
