Abstract
Dark spatial solitons have been extensively investigated recently, in large part because of their potential use for optical computing and processing applications. Dark spatial solitons have been observed in Na vapor and various thermally nonlinear liquids.1 More recently, the propagation of these solitons has been observed in the semiconductor ZnSe.2 In this talk, we will review recent experimental work on this subject, including both the physics and device applications of this phenomenon.
