Abstract
We study resonant tunneling in semiconductor asymmetric double quantum wells (Fig. 1) with time-resolved optical techniques. The dynamics of the tunneling process are studied in the regime of weak scattering, where the wavepacket tunnels coherently back and forth between the two wells1 and in the case of strong scattering, where the oscillation is overdamped and the tunneling process is slowed down considerably.2
