Abstract

Over the last few years several correlated spontaneous emission schemes1 have been investigated, and it has been demonstrated that quantum noise quenching below the Schawlow-Townes limit is possible. This is achieved by establishing a correlation between spontaneous emission events in two different modes of the radiation field so that the relative phase between them does not diffuse or fluctuate.
