Plasmonic Dark Modes for Enhanced Microcavity Biosensing

Abstract

Plasmonically enhanced microcavities exhibit local field enhancement but decreased quality (Q) factor compared to bare microcavities. We show that trimer gold nanostructures generate dark modes that greatly increase field enhancement and maintain Q.
