Uncovering reflection insensitive semiconductor lasers for silicon photonic integration

Abstract

We report on two recent high performance semiconductor lasers made with the silicon photonic platform. Both structures display a quasi complete reflection insensitivity, resulting in a key attribute for the development of isolator-free integrated technologies.
