World’s First TO-can Coherent Transceiver

Abstract

We fit both, coherent homodyne receiver and transmitter, in a transistor-outline package with single fiber/RF port. Full-duplex 2.5Gb/s transmission over 27.5km reach, 28dB loss budget and coherent Ethernet connectivity are demonstrated without optical-layer DSP functions.
