Abstract

This tutorial will present an overview of current exchange and Interexchange systems and discuss key future developments. In the first part of the session, the main emphasis will be on the relationship among technology choices, performance parameters, equipment architecture, and network requirements. Examples of various system implementations are given. The second part focuses on future evolution of the network driven by multigigabit capability and new network standards.
