Abstract

Mode partition and photon fluctuation (1-4) are important in lightwave transmission in that they can limit the maximum distance-bandwidth product especially at 1.5 μm. We report here new dynamic power distribution results on a BH-DFB laser, as measured by a sample-and-hold set up consisting of a Ge-APD, a sampling scope, and a multichannel analyzer, as described previously (1).
