Abstract

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is an effective technique for increasing the information carrying capacity of optical fibers. The reported couplers accommodate dual-wavelength transmission over a single fiber and can function either unidirectionally (multiplexer or demultiplexer) or bidirectionally for various wavelength pairs.
