Abstract

In coherent fiber-optic transmission systems with heterodyne detection,1 the receiver sensitivity Is expected to increase and the selective intermediate filters to allow multichannel optical carrier frequency transmission.2 Our first experiments3 showed the feasibility of a heterodyne system with two semiconductor lasers and an all fiber-optic link. In a second step a PSK-modulated baseband method was used to transmit a 70-Mbit/sec CMI coded DPCM TV signal over a single polarization fiber.
