Abstract

The use of junction current confinement high- radiance AlGaAs light emitting diodes1 for analog frequency division multiplexing of TV signals is examined. For a fixed bias and modulation depth, the cross modulation and composite triple-beat distortions are found to be independent of the number of stations carried from 3 to 14 and in the frequency range from 120 to 204 MHz. Most diodes were capable of 60% peak modulation depth at 80-mA bias before exceeding the cable Industry cross-modulation standard (−48 dB).
