Abstract

A number of fiber-optic communication and sensor systems are planned for use in underwater environments.1 The successful implementation of these systems will require suitably designed pressure-tolerant fiber-optic componentry. To date, only cable designs for underwater applications have been reported.2 Here we report on the design, implementation, and testing of a demountable multichannel low-loss multimode fiber pressure-tolerant feedthrough.
