Abstract

The closed polymerization and fiber drawing method1 was very effective in lowering the attenuation loss of plastic optical fiber (POF), Using this method, we developed low-loss POFs of PMMA core, which had the lowest attenuation, 55 dB/km, at a 568-nm wavelength as shown in Fig. 1.
