Abstract

The channel capacity of existing and planned fiber-optic links can be greatly increased by wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) of several information channels onto a single fiber. This paper describes a full duplex fiber-optic data link with WDM based on Interference filters. The system was designed for field use between terminals 3 km apart and was fabricated entirely from commercially available components, including the laser diodes.
