Abstract
A simple compact optical sensor system consisting of a Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser cavity and an external reflector is reported. This sensor makes use of the effect of the amplitude and phase of the optical feedback from an external reflector on the light output of a semiconductor laser to sense acoustic waves, magnetic fields, acceleration, and temperature change.
