Abstract

The acoustooptic spectrum analyzer has been described by Anderson et al.1 Much work has been directed toward implementing this device because of the possibiiities for ultrafast signal processing. An elecfroopfic version has been proposed2 and analyzed.3 We now present more detailed theoretical calculations and the first experimental results. These experimental results, which demonstrate the principle of operation of the device, are compared with theory, and good agreement is found.
