Abstract

An rf spectrum analyzer based upon an integrated optical version of an acoustooptic Bragg cell receiver was proposed by Hamilton et al.1 Conceptual designs of at least three variants of such a device have been described,2,4 and an operating integrated optical spectrum analyzer (IOSA) has recently been demonstrated we believe for the first time in our laboratory.5 This device has an instantaneous rf bandwidth of 400 MHz, a center frequency of 600 MHz, and a complete cycle time of 2 μsec.
