Abstract

Recent developments of passive components for optical communication have concentrated on those for single-mode fiber (SMF) transmission and for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) transmission especially in the long-wavelength region and those for data transmission. This paper reviews recent achievements in these passive components and discusses the Selfoc rod lenses used.
