Abstract

A series of fibers was fabricated via vapor deposition inside a substrate tube, collapse into rod preform, and subsequent drawing into fiber. Both 50/125-µm graded-index multimode and 125-µm o.d. single-mode fibers were made with cores and claddings based on the SiO2/GeO2/F/P2O5 glass system. Table I shows representative results of the attenuation performance from this series of fibers.
