Disorder-induced acceleration of thermalization in multimode optical fibers

Abstract

We show theoretically that disorder in multimode fibers is responsible for a dramatic acceleration of optical condensation, which can explain the spatial beam self-cleaning phenomenon. Experiments report the observation of the transition to light condensation.
