Phase-matching-free parametric oscillation mediated by monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides

Abstract

We propose a novel kind of parametric micro-resonators adopting monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides as quadratic nonlinear media, demonstrating that they are free of phase-matching requirements thanks to their atomic-layer thickness implying a surface-like nonlinear interaction.
