Mode demultiplexing based on a three-armed grating coupler

Abstract

A three-armed mode division multiplexer based on a two-dimensional grating coupler is proposed. LP01 and LP11a modes are coupled and demultiplexed simultaneously with the coupling efficiency of 40.6% and 44.5% at 1550 nm, respectively.
