Precisely Measuring the Thermal Focal Length in the Orthogonally Polarized Nd:YLF Laser by Simultaneous Self-Mode-Locking of TEM0,0 and TEM1,0 Modes

Abstract

We precisely measure the transverse beat frequency in an orthogonally polarized Nd:YLF laser. With the measured beat frequency, the effective focal length of the thermal lensing for π- and σ-polarization can be simultaneously determined as a function of the absorbed power.
