Photon-assisted Tunneling Applied to Metal-Insulator-Metal Nanorods for High Efficiency Infrared Photodetection and Energy Harvesting

Abstract

We have applied the transfer matrix method to solve the Schrodinger equation for electron tunneling probability and predict the current-voltage characteristics of a metal-insulator-metal structure to calculate the photodetection and solar energy harvesting efficiencies.
