Abstract

We propose a novel fiber used for space division multiplexing (SDM) system which has elliptical ring on the silica background. This kind of fiber already existed with ring core profile. The main feature of this work is to model the elliptical ring core fiber (E-RCF) region to support some Linearly Polarized modes (LP). The index difference for the proposed model is taken for the same condition as a conventional single mode fiber. Here we generate four kinds of LP modes (LP01, LP11, LP12, LP13) which analyses the effective refractive index for the various ellipticity ratio, Birefringence and confinement loss. This parameter is calculated numerically using FEM method.
