Temporal measurement of the wave-breaking flash in a laser plasma accelerator

Abstract

Wave-breaking injection of electrons in a laser plasma accelerator generates an intense broadband (Δλ≈300 nm) radiation flash. We demonstrate its spectral coherence and measure its pulse length using single-shot supercontinuum spectral interferometry.
