A Novel Microellipsoid Whispering-Gallery-Mode Microcavity with High Q Value

Abstract

A new type of whispering-gallery-mode microellipsoid microcavity has been prepared by optical fiber fusion. The measured Q value can be as high as 9×107. Theoretical investigation indicates the microellipsoid owns small mode volume.
