Optomechanical cooling in continuous waveguide systems through spontaneous inter-modal Brillouin scattering

Abstract

We demonstrate continuum optomechanical cooling in a multimode optomechanical silicon waveguide. This process yields powerful optomechanical control and offers new strategies for noise mitigation in Brillouin-photonic technologies.
