Abstract
In this work we present an all-fiber tunable multifunctional device based on the phenomenon of resonant tunneling in photonic crystal fibers selectively infiltrated with liquid crystal (LCPCF). The design consists of two pairs of air holes infiltrated with liquid crystals separated by the central solid core of the PCF which acts as a resonator, thereby establishing a five-core PCF. The LCPCF is operated as an optical filter and as a directional coupler. The results show a major advance in the design of all-fiber tunable multifunctional devices.
