Comparison of Fluoroindate and Fluorozirconate Rare Earth Doped Glasses for Mid-IR Lasers

Abstract

Temperature dependent fluorescence lifetimes for Dy and Er doped fluoroindate and fluorozirconate glasses are measured and fit to multiphonon relaxation theory. The two glasses are more similar than expected, and Dy decays anomalously rapidly.
