Elliptic Light Absorber: Trapping Light Between Two Foci

Abstract

We propose a class of omnidirectional cylindrical concentrators collecting light between two foci. Our ray-tracing and full-wave simulations of elliptic cylinder absorbers show flawless performance at all acceptance angles. Extension to spheroidal geometry is possible.
