Spectral changes induced by a phase modulator acting as a time lens

Abstract

We show that a phase modulator, acting as a time lens inside a temporal imaging system, can induce spectral broadening, narrowing, or shifts depending on the phase of sinusoidal clock, without requiring any nonlinear effects.
