Optical Trapping, Stretching, and Self-Assembly for Biological Measurements

Abstract

We describe two optical trapping techniques. We used a dual-beam optical trap to measure membrane mechanical properties. We trapped periodic arrays of nanoparticles using a photonic crystal, a method called light-assisted, templated self assembly.
