Abstract
Random lasers have seemed to largely elude control because they are based on disordered structures which, intrinsically, puts them beyond external control. Typically constituted by a powdered material, rather than a usual cavity, their spectrum is unpredictable and mode selection difficult to attain. A specially engineered pumping can however demonstrate that it is possible to excite single modes and make them interact as well as excite many and reveal their collective behaviour.
