Asymptotic Theory of Strong Spin-Orbit Coupling in Optical Fiber

Abstract

A large index contrast interface in an optical fiber profile can greatly enhance the spin-orbit coupling experienced by the propagating modes. We explain this effect through a vector geometric theory of diffraction expansion.
