Rayleigh Scatter Based High Resolution Distributed Fiber Sensing for Safety and Security Applications

Abstract

High resolution measurements of the Rayleigh scatter of optical fiber enable recording of a fiber’s unique “fingerprint.” Detecting changes in this signature can be useful in a variety of safety and security applications discussed herein.
