Graphene nonlinear and ultrafast optoelectronics: stepping up to the surface

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Enabled by the unique Dirac fermionic structure of graphene, we describe graphene-silicon circuits for optical signal processing. The single atomic layer has spectroscopically-fast carrier dynamics and dramatically-large nonlinearities for frequency conversion and advanced data formats.
