Optical and Electronic Approaches to Restoration of Sight to the Blind

Abstract

Retinal degeneration leads to blindness due to loss of photoreceptors. I will review current approaches to restoration of sight based on optical and electrical stimulation of the inner retinal neurons, their achievements, challenges and perspectives.
