Overcoming Transit Time Limitations with Collective Excitations

Abstract

Incorporating bi-layer electron and hole plasma, we produce a novel planar, top illuminated photodetector with time response of < 2.5 ps sensitive to fraction of μW optical power, and capable of operation without applied bias.
