Biomaterial Photonics

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Light is an attractive form of energy from the medical application perspective. However, a common problem in photomedicine is the difficulty to deliver light efficiently into deep tissue in vivo. Here, we discuss two forward-looking approaches based on optical waveguides made of biomaterials and biological light sources.
