Generation and Coherent Detection of a 400-Gb/s CO-OFDM Superchannel with 6.4-b/s/Hz

Abstract

The generation and coherent detection of a 400-Gb/s CO-OFDM superchannel (4×100-Gb/s PDM-16QAM), with 6.4-b/s/Hz spectral efficiency is presented. A required OSNR of 22.9 dB at the threshold BER of 3.8×10−3 (7% HD-FEC overhead) was obtained.
