Abstract
Optical beams can carry orbital angular momentum (OAM), such that the beam's phase front "twists" as it propagates. There exists orthogonal OAM values that can be used to multiplex many data-carrying beams. We will discuss OAM multiplexing to enhance the capacity and spectral efficiency of communications.
